Pop’s Cult Theater: 420 Eve Double Feature
Pop’s Cult Theater is here! Every month, we’ll be curating a double feature featuring flicks that are a little bit weird, a little bit different, and a whole lot of kickass.
It’s 4/20 eve, my dudes, and we’re kicking back and lighting one up to two of the greatest stoner comedies of all time: FRIDAY and HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE.
In our first film of the night, It’s Friday and Craig Jones has just gotten fired for stealing cardboard boxes. To make matters worse, rent is due, he hates his overbearing girlfriend, Joi, and his best friend, Smokey, owes the local drug dealer money — and that’s all before lunch. As the hours drag on, Jones and Smokey experience the gamut of urban life, complete with crackheads, shoot-outs and overly sexual pastors, concentrated into one single, unbelievable FRIDAY.
Next, Nerdy accountant Harold and his irrepressible friend Kumar get stoned watching television and find themselves utterly bewitched by a commercial for White Castle. Convinced there must be one nearby, the two set out on a late-night odyssey that takes them deep into New Jersey. Somehow, the boys manage to run afoul of rednecks, cops and even a car-stealing Neil Patrick Harris before getting anywhere near their beloved sliders.
NOTE: Please don’t smoke in the theater, but we can’t control what you do at home.
